BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS – GINGINS

Sunday October 1st was the Feast of St. Francis, the patron saint of animals.

To celebrate this there was a wonderful Blessing of Animals service in Gingins church.

This was a lively service attended by 30 people with their pets or photos of ones who were at home. There were 14 dogs and 2 cats in attendance. During the service each one was blessed.

We spread out around the church and all participants were very well behaved.

Afterwards we were treated to one of Sabine’s delicious chocolate cakes decorated with a variety of different animals.

Overheard In An Orchard, by Elizabeth Cheney

Said the Robin to the Sparrow

“I should really like to know,

Why these anxious human beings

Rush around and worry so?”

Said the Sparrow to the Robin,

“Friend I think that it must be

That they have no Heavenly Father

Such as cares for you and me.”
