On Sunday morning 12th October in the Divonne church we welcomed two young sisters into God’s family and our church family through baptism.
Olivia Florence and Louise Elisabeth Lachenal were presented by their parents for baptism. God-parents, family and friends and the congregation
made promises to pray for them, to care for them and to help them follow Christ.
Lydia, the children’s older sister, read the first lesson from Ecclesiastes explaining the value of a friend. The reading ended with the words: “A threefold cord is not quickly broken.”
The two sisters were signed with the sign of a cross and then baptised with water that had been blessed.
Olivia and Louise were then welcomed into the church family as we sang “Our God is a great big God and he holds us in his hands.”
The children were then presented with a baptism candle as we all said “Shine as a light in the world to the glory of God the Father.”
