On Sunday May 24th we celebrated the gift of the Holy Spirit to Jesus’ disciples enabling them to speak in other tongues/languages. Jesus appeared to the disciples after his crucifiction and breathed on them the gift of the Holy Spirit and said these words: “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”
The disciples were able to spread the word about the saving grace of Jesus throughout their world.
We followed a Holy Communion Service after which we renewed our promises:
- to trust God to be our guide.
- to grow together in love.
- to minister to each others needs.
- to pray for each other.
- to carry the light of Christ into the world’s darkest places.
We prayed for Andrea Goovaerts who has accepted the role of Assistant Warden to work with Diantha Terry.
Prayers and thanks were also offered for Louise and Jeremy Burrows after being a big part of our church during the last 8 years. This was their last worship service with us before moving to live and work in England.
Heidi and Richard Hawkings led us in music accompanied by the La Cote Church Choir who had come together to sing at this special service.
