For our service on Maundy Thursday La Côte congregation joined with Paroisse de la Dôle congregation and we learnt about the three rituals before Jesus began his way to the cross.
Carolyn Cooke and Etienne Guillod lead us through the three dynamics of Christian Life.
1. Personnal: Anointing – we heard the story of Jesus being anointed at Bethany after which we were anointed by the ministers.
2. Companionship: here we heard the story of Jesus washing the disciples feet after which we paired up and either washed each others feet or hands.
3. Community: we then heard the story of the last supper after which we all joined around the altar for Holy Communion.
The altar was then stripped and we left in silence to reflect on the Lord’s night of suffering.
