Blessing of the animals, Gingins church

On Sunday 6th October, for the feast day of St. Francis, there was a very popular blessing of the animals service held in Gingins church.

We gave thanks for all animals –  large and small, wild ones, farm animals and those in our own homes.

We asked forgiveness for human cruelty and carelessness towards animals and asked God to help us honour and protect all his creatures.

After the prayers of thanks and asking for forgiveness Carolyn blessed every animal that had come to church.  There were 15 dogs, 2 cats and 1 tortoise.

When the service was over we celebrated with a cup of tea and a beautiful cake. All the dogs were very well behaved and enjoyed meeting each other.
