Pastoral Care at La Côte Anglican Church
Pastoral care at La Côte is how we support one another in times of emotional, spiritual, or practical need, following Christ’s example of compassion.
Our clergy, Rev. Canon Carolyn Cooke (Chaplain) and Rev. Betty Talbot (Assistant
Curate), coordinate care and support requests considering:
– Spiritual or theological concerns (faith questions, prayer, search for meaning)
– Emotional needs (bereavement, life transitions, loneliness, stress)
– Short-term practical help (meals, visits, transport and other practical care)
– Serious emotional and mental health challenges (such as abuse, addiction, severe depression, suicidal thoughts)
Emotional needs are referred to Stephen Ministers — trained lay volunteers offering confidential one-to-one support through listening and prayer.
While La Côte offers short-term practical help, we can also facilitate referral to
ongoing long-term care.
Care also happens naturally through small groups, prayer teams, fellowship, and special services such as All Souls and Blue Christmas. All support is offered freely, respectfully, and confidentially.
Pastoral care at La Côte is a shared ministry – rooted in love, guided by
wisdom, and open to all.
Additionally, those who feel called to support our pastoral care are invited to speak
with the clergy to find out how they can help.
