Youth Activities
SAS : 10-14 year olds

An intrepid crew set out to explore
the Canal du Midi in Camargue at
Ascension 2005.
Special Activity Scene (SAS) is a youth group open to anyone from 10 to about 14 – we're not too strict on this! We usually meet twice a month at Ted's house in Nyon and enjoy a fun and varied programme of activities. One thing is for sure – SAS is not predictable! In the last few months we've spent time together making hats and catching frogs; we've had trips to see a pantomime and gone night sledging in a blizzard; we've offered our services to local charitable projects and wracked our brains trying to solve impossible puzzles. We've been bowling and we've even had our very own ‘murder mystery' with guests such as Professor Plum and Reverend Green!
So, you're guaranteed a brilliant evening and a chance to make some new friends of your own age – what more could you ask? Well, we do offer more: as well as the pizza and nuggets awaiting you, one of the most enjoyable parts of the evening is when we come together to reflect a little on what we've been doing – whether that's seeing how ten-pin bowling helps us to understand the 10 Commandments, debating the death penalty or the difference between animals and humans, we hope to give you a fresh way of looking at Christian faith which is both fun and thought-provoking. Why not come and see for yourself?
Life after SAS?
Crusty old captain Ted took up his position as
Master and Commander.
So, what happens when you start to outgrow SAS and want to hang around with an older crowd? Well, we're in the first stages of trying to create a group for those aged 15 and older. We expect the core of this new group to be those who progress naturally from SAS, but we hope to appeal to any older teenagers who want to explore Christian faith in relaxed social situations and to discuss questions they might not be able to elsewhere. We've already run through Geneva old town in the Escalade and treated the crowds to snippets of Shakespeare along the way; we've met for a bite to eat once or twice, and we've even joined a group of Swiss teenagers in Nyon for an evening of debate about love and relationships! We hope to continue meeting in the coming months, with several highlights on the horizon – a concert of Christian rock music and a trip along the canals of southern France in May, and a possible weekend in Taizé in June. Come along and find out more!
