All About Gingins

The beautiful church in the village of Gingins has been the focus of our worship and life together for more than 20 years. It has an appearance and atmosphere that aids our contemplation, and releases us into the presence of God. We enjoy a variety of services here at 4pm each Sunday afternoon. We celebrate the Eucharist at least twice a month, and during term time we have a monthly children’s service. Sometimes we explore broader traditions in our worship, particularly those from Taizé and Iona. There is a good deal of lay participation in all our services.

Children's Service ...

Every couple of months we offer the opportunity for the anointing of oil. This provides those who are struggling with sickness or other troubles the opportunity to receive this traditional act of grace. Alongside this we provide people with an opportunity to receive prayer after the service if they have particular concerns.

Our children enjoy our thriving Sunday School that uses the Godly Play programme, a profound and engaging system of drawing them into understanding and experiencing their faith. We prepare children to receive communion from the age of 7 so that they can experience for themselves the deep significance of this precious gift. A crèche is available each Sunday for the 0 – 3s.

............................................................................

We are privileged to have Keith Dale come and play the organ for us each Sunday. His renowned talent impresses people time and again, particularly as he plays his carefully chosen pieces to aid our reflection at the end of each service.

In addition we have a music group which is developing its repertoire and leading us once a month. The group meets at the home of Harold and Margaret, and would welcome any new members. Overall, we like a variety of music, enjoying the rousing traditional hymns, the modern worship songs and chants from Taizé. We try to find a good balance between the heart and the mind in our worship.

........After every service we serve refreshments in the parish room. On warmer days we mingle in the courtyard chatting and taking the time to be amongst friends. We are still a relatively small community and therefore enjoy meeting newcomers and making them feel welcome. Why not come and join us one Sunday, and discover for yourself the spiritual and communal qualities of our worship?
