Sunday Club at Gingins

SUNDAY CLUB
at Gingins,
4 p.m. in the Parish Room

CRECHE: 0-3
Every Sunday, except
Christmas, Easter & summer
holidays.

GODLY PLAY: 4-9
CLUB +: 10-14
Every Sunday, except the
monthly Children's Service and
during school holidays.

CRECHE: 0-3
This is supervised by two people
each week, on a rota basis. In
accordance with the Diocesan Child
Protection Policy, we may not have
more than 3 children per supervisor.
We therefore ask parents to please
bring their children before 4 p.m. so
as to ensure adequate supervision
and to reclaim their children
immediately after the service! We
provide a screened-off space in the
room (to allow the older group space
for the Godly Play activities). We
rely on you in order to maintain this
service! Therefore, parents of
Creche children - and any other
interested people - are invited to
take a turn on the rota.

GODLY PLAY: 4-9
Godly Play aims to:
• Make religion come alive for
children
• Assist their spiritual
development
• Help Christianity become part
of daily life
• Make the languageof religion
familiar.

Godly Play involves:
• Telling the religious stories
using handmade wooden figures,
to invite listeners into the
stories and to connect the
stories to their personal
experience
• Moving to wider dimensions of
faith with the use of open
questions and a time of
responding to the story with a
creative activity
• Organising the group's time and
space so that it models the
Christian community we seek to
be. The room can then become
a peaceful place in which the
mystery of God can be
experienced
• Relating to worship of the
church by learning religious
languageand modelling each
session on the Eucharist, with a
Preparation (meeting and
greeting), Ministry of the Word
(listening to and responding to a
bible story), Communion(sharing
food and drink) and Blessing
and Dismissal (saying goodbye).

On Evening Prayer Sundays, we share
food and drink in the 'Feast'. On
CommunionSundays, we do not have
the Feast, as we come into church to
share in the Eucharist around the
altar with the congregation. From
now on, we are going to keep
together as a group as we come into
church and sit at the back, so as not
to disrupt the atmosphere in Church.
Children will then join their families
to take Communion.

After the story and the Feast, the
children have an opportunity to
choose an activity in response to the
story, for example a prepared
activity based on the story, working
with the Godly Play materials or with
our own resources (books, puzzles,
arts & crafts). Any unfinished work
can either be taken home or kept in
a folder at church for another time.
We are depending on you, as parents,
to be our partners, please, in
promoting our values of mutual
consideration and respect. Ways in
which you can help us are:

• Arriving on time, leaving the
children with us for a prompt
start at 4 p.m.
• Remembering to give your
children their collection money.
• Taking over responsibility for
your children after the service,
particularly supervising them in
the courtyard and ensuring they
do not climb on the walls or gate,
due to the dangerous drop on the
other side.
• Making sure children leave some
tea for the adults!
