Divonne Sunday Club

Since our beginnings in September 2005, we have come a long way with our children’s ministry! We started off with the Godly Play method of encouraging children to develop their own spirituality through stories and activities; then, finding we had a group of children of an appropriate age, we organised the ‘Welcome to the Lord’s Table’ course which prepared them to receive Holy Communion for the first time in May 2008. This took place in a family celebration very much appreciated by children and adults alike.

Since then, and with the arrival of new families, we have been able to offer work in three different age groups: 3-5 yrs, 6-10 yrs and 11+. We are finding the materials from www.familyministry.co.uk very good for the first two of these groups, and are using varied resources for the older children. We have a group of very committed leaders and are always ready to welcome new ones. The children also benefit enormously from the help and guidance of our older teenagers.

As well as the sessions in Sunday Club, we have family services at least once per term, with the highlight of the year being the nativity play at Christmas. In 2009 the children also enjoyed family celebrations during Lent, at Easter and Pentecost, and an end-of-year party in June.
